Innovation of in situ treatment - time release ISCO.

RemRx™ is a first in-class product innovation for in situ treatment of groundwater contaminants.
A single application of RemRx™ delivers sustained treatments passively over extended periods of time. The result is confidence in overcoming the traditional rebounding problems of previous technologies.

Overcoming the problems inherent with the treatment and tracing of remediation efforts.

Key Features:

  • Time release of oxidants into the subsurface
  • Broad contaminant efficacy with permanganate or persulfate
  • Months of treatments with just a single application

Application Methods:

  • Canisters for suspension in wells.
  • Injection with hydraulic fracturing
  • Soil Mixing

AxNano completed bench testing of CRP in 2016. These photos illustrate the novel and patented time release feature of the product that allow single treatments better efficacy but also the traceability of applications effectiveness much easier to measure.

RemRx™ CRP is a controlled time release material for ISCO being developed in collaboration with AxNano and Professor Stephanie Luster-Teasley at North Carolina A&T. The highly tunable polymeric pellets can provide sustained levels of oxidant delivery into the subsurface with a single application, eliminating the occurrence of rebounding.

Permanganate and persulfate-based CRPs are now available for pilot field testing. AxNano is also developing RemRx™ CSI, a zero valent iron-based composite with functionalities to improve both reactivity and transport compared to current ZVI formulations on the market. The ZVI technology is being developed in collaboration with University of Arkansas Professor Lauren Greenlee.
Flexible Applications and Easier Deployments

RemRx™ CRP’s patented structure includes many benefits for ISCO remediation. Safe handling and transport and long-term treatment reduces redeployment and labor costs.

A variety of popular applications can be used such as canisters for suspension in wells,  injection with hydraulic fracturing and soil mixing.

RemRx™CRP can be tuned to meet specific site characteristics or toxins and can also be used to treat pathogenic contamination issues.

"Similar to the way that controlled release drugs revolutionized the pharmaceutical industry, CRPS will transform the remediation market by providing a sustained oxidant delivery to overcome rebounding issues with a single application, increasing efficacy and lowering overall project costs by an estimated 50%".
Overcoming inherent problems
In situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) cleans contaminants directly “as they lie” as opposed to more expensive pump-and-treat methods. While effective oxidants exist, current delivery methods to the subsurface are mostly limited to liquid injections that require multiple re-injections to address contaminant rebounding (return of contaminant levels following treatment). Rebounding leads to increased remediation project cost by greater than 50% and an unpredictable timing to cleanup.
